COMMUNITY SCHOOLS ACTIVITY LEADER – TEMPORARY
Located at North Gresham Elementary, this temporary position (10/06/2025-02/01/2026) is part‑time and focuses on after school programming for elementary‑age students.
Position OverviewMetropolitan Family Service (MFS) is a community organization dedicated to empowering individuals and families. We are seeking an After school Activity Leader to design, plan, and lead engaging after school activities for diverse student groups in arts & crafts, sports, academic enrichment, and STEM. Each class consists of approximately 15 students grouped by grade level; materials and supplies are provided.

- Develop and teach engaging, age‑appropriate lessons with ties to academics, recreation, and/or the arts during after school hours.
- Supervise groups of 12‑16 students while maintaining school‑appropriate class decorum.
- Supervise students during daily routines such as meal time, recess, bathroom breaks, and class transitions.
- Record and turn in student attendance daily.
- Maintain classroom and school rules to ensure students are safe.
- Communicate frequently with the SUN Site Manager about individual student progress, successes and concerns.
- Maintain positive working relationships with students, families, school staff, and custodians.
- Work within school and agency policies. Protect student confidentiality.
- Experience teaching children and creating lesson plans.
- Desire and ability to work with children in an enriching, positive, safe setting.
- Independent, self‑motivated, creative and resourceful.
- Excellent organization and interpersonal communication skills.
- Cooperative and able to work as part of a team.
- Willingness to ask questions for clarification and job completion.
- Demonstrate excitement and professionalism in all interactions with children.
- Enthusiasm about working in an inclusive environment serving children of all backgrounds and abilities.
- Experience managing elementary‑age groups and strong behavior management skills (MUST).
- Minimum 18 years of age and legally able to work in the United States (documentation required for I‑9).
- Spanish speaking skills are a plus.
- Basic English proficiency (read, write, and speak).
- All employees must submit a criminal background check.
Monday – Thursday, 2:30 pm – 5:30 pm
TermFall 2025. SUN activities are not held on Gresham Barlow School District No‑School or Early Release Days. Position may continue for future school terms.
Compensation$18 per hour, varying with experience.
