Primary PurposeThe Certified Alcohol & Drug Counselor (CADC) will assess and treat individuals with substance use disorders through individual & group counseling, coordinate service care for mental health and other clinical needs, while supporting the needs of the clinic during open hours as needed.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Direct Client Support (60%)
- Conduct substance use treatment intakes and assessments to determine client level of care based on ASAM criteria and establish individualized treatment plans.
- Incorporate evidence based treatment modalities to assist clients in reducing symptoms through individual and group sessions. Provide trauma‑informed and culturally responsive individual clinical services. Act assertively to include and engage family members as partners in treatment.
- Coordinate service delivery as part of a multidisciplinary team to assist clients in holistic care.
- Abide by company and program policies and procedures, confidentiality laws, professional boundaries, and relevant federal/state regulations and standards.
- Documentation & Reporting (40%)
- Produce accurate and timely strength‑based documentation demonstrating clinical knowledge that is in alignment with agency protocols and payor regulations.
- Maintain client records to ensure compliance with agency and contract guidelines and confidentiality.
- Attend supervision, team, and agency meetings as directed.
- Assist with other recovery support services as directed.
- This position may require handling and disposal of needles as part of clean‑up duties, necessitating adherence to proper safety protocols to mitigate potential risks and ensure a safe working environment.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Clinical Setting. You must be able to perform professionally in a clinical treatment setting. This involves maintaining confidentiality and supporting a trauma‑informed, holistic treatment environment.
- Skilled with Conflict Management. You must possess basic essential skills related to de‑escalation and conflict resolution. With a community center open to all individuals who want a safe environment, this position requires managing and overseeing all interactions between clients/community members and navigating conflict in a safe and restorative manner.
- Service. You must support an organizational culture that reflects the value placed on high quality client services and inter‑departmental collaboration. This requires managing and maintaining excellent professionalism and ethical boundaries.
- This position typically requires at least a CADC‑I.
- Must have reliable transportation or maintain a valid driver’s license for the state of residency and have a driving record permitting coverage under the corporate liability policy. If driving a personal vehicle for work purposes must also have and maintain personal auto liability coverage. All employees driving for work purposes, regardless of whether driving a personal or agency vehicle, must complete the agency’s driving approval process before they drive for work.
- For those who identify as in recovery from SUD, this position requires at least two years of continuous abstinence from all forms of drugs and alcohol, except those prescribed by a doctor (excluding marijuana based on federal laws). Two years of recovery is required per MHACBO specifications.
- Must be able to pass Oregon Criminal History and Abuse Records Data System (ORCHARDS) background check per Oregon Department Human Services (ODHS) and Oregon Health Authority (OHA) standards prior to engaging with clients.
- At least one year of work experience in SUD services.
- Ability to effectively use most features of Google Workspace and Microsoft Suites.
- Ability to create detailed reports as requested.
- Ability to work independently and as a team player.
