Position: Human Resources / Payroll Coordinator

SGR1 - Full-time

JOB SUMMARY

The Human Resources / Payroll Coordinator supports the daily HR and payroll operations of the senior care community. This position serves as a resource for employees and leadership, ensuring accurate and timely payroll processing, HR compliance, recruiting and staff support in alignment with company values and state/federal regulations. The HR/Payroll Coordinator plays a vital role in maintaining a positive workplace culture and ensuring that staff feel supported, valued, and connected to our mission of providing compassionate resident care.

RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Serves as an adviser for HR related questions or redirects to the appropriate person.
  • Process payroll for all employees using HRIS/Payroll system.
  • Verify employee hours, PTO, differentials, and overtime; resolve discrepancies in collaboration with department managers.
  • Ensure compliance with wage and hour laws, including minimum wage, overtime, and meal/rest break rules (specific to healthcare settings).
  • Maintain payroll records and generate reports for leadership, finance, and audits.
  • Support the full employee lifecycle: onboarding, I-9/E-Verify, new hire orientations, status changes, and terminations.
  • Maintain personnel files in compliance with HIPAA and labor law standards.
  • Post job openings, assist with applicant tracking, and coordinate candidate interviews.
  • Assist with employee engagement programs, recognition initiatives, and culture-building efforts.
  • Provide compliance support related to state/federal requirements (OSHA, CMS, DHS, BOLI, etc.).
  • Track and report employee licensure and credentialing to ensure regulatory compliance.
  • Assist with benefits administration (enrollment, changes, employee questions).
  • Generate and distribute HR and payroll reports for leadership.
  • Support survey preparation and provide documentation during audits.
  • Coordinate with corporate HR/Payroll as needed for escalated issues.
  • Ensure HR documents including status changes, performance evaluations, promotions and termination paperwork are filled out timely and correctly.
  • Makes sure all required employment and labor law posters are displayed within the facility.
  • The Human Resources Coordinator will arrange the correct resources for unemployment claims.
  • Other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business, or related field preferred; equivalent experience considered.
  • 2+ years of HR and/or payroll experience; healthcare or senior care experience strongly preferred.
  • Knowledge of employment laws and payroll practices.
  • Experience with HRIS/Payroll/ATS system(s).
  • Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and confidentiality.
  • Compassionate, people-focused approach consistent with the mission of senior care.
