Join Microchip Technology Inc. as a Production Specialist at our Fab 4 facility in Gresham, Oregon. As a key member of our manufacturing team, you will help advance an award‑winning cleanroom program that produces microcontrollers for the world’s most advanced technologies.

Job Description

We invest in all of our employees and support your success with comprehensive onboarding and training. You will learn to operate and qualify the machines (or “tools”) that manufacture microcontrollers, and work in a fast, 12‑hour shift environment that alternates between 3‑ and 4‑shift weeks.

Responsibilities
  • Learn to operate the manufacturing equipment for microcontrollers and embedded control products.
  • Qualify tools and conduct engineering experiments to ensure equipment and processes remain within documented limits.
  • Communicate when equipment or processes fail to meet specified limits.
  • Master cleanroom protocol and required safety procedures.
  • Work 12‑hour shifts, alternating between 3 and 4 shifts per week.
  • Develop the expertise needed to assist your functional area team in meeting production goals.
Available Shifts

Front End Nights:
Sunday, Monday, Tuesday every other Saturday 6:25 pm‑6:40 am, 18% differential
Back End Nights:
Wednesday, Thursday, Friday every other Saturday 6:25 pm‑6:40 am, 18% differential
Front End Days:
Sunday, Monday, Tuesday every other Wednesday 6:25 am‑6:40 pm, 5% differential
Back End Days:
Thursday, Friday, Saturday every other Wednesday 6:25 am‑6:40 pm, 5% differential

Compensation
  • There are three components to compensation: base rate of pay, shift differential, and daily overtime.
    • Day Shift Pay:
      Base hourly pay $18.75 + 5% differential = $19.68 per hour (built‑in OT = $21.15)
    • Night Shift Pay:
      Base hourly pay $18.75 + 18% differential = $22.12 per hour (built‑in OT = $23.77)
  • Quarterly Cash Bonuses
  • $2,000 Restricted Stock Grant – cash your shares after 12‑15 months or hold for growth.
  • Employee Stock Purchase Plan – guaranteed minimum 15% discount.
  • 401(k) Retirement Savings Plan.
Paid Time Off
  • Vacation Pay – up to 81.38 hours annually (more after two years).
  • Personal Absence Time – up to 41.38 hours annually.
  • Paid Sick Leave – up to 40 hours annually.
  • 10 Paid Holidays.

Requirements / Qualifications
  • Ability to multi‑task while paying careful attention to detail.
  • Prior success working individually and in a team environment.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to follow written and verbal direction.
  • Ability to read, comprehend and follow detailed work specifications for each piece of equipment.
  • Excellent listening skills.
  • Adaptability to frequent change and improvements.
  • Reliable and consistent availability to work compressed shift schedule (6:25–6:40).
  • Regular and predictable attendance is essential.
  • Ability to wear the required cleanroom garment with hood, mask, safety glasses, gloves and booties.
  • Basic computer, math and reading comprehension skills.
  • Must be 18 years old with a high school diploma or GED.

Travel Time:
None.

Physical Attributes:
Ability to bend at waist, carry, climb, crawl, crouch, stoop, lift 25 lb, push/pull 25 lb, stand 60%, sit 10%, walk 30%, and operate in a cleanroom environment. Physical work includes handling, hearing, talking, seeing, and working alone or around others.
