Position Title: Camp Nurse

Location/Branch: Camp Collins

Department: Summer Camp

Supervisor: Director, Youth Development

Scheduled Hours: Sunday to Friday

Full Time/Part Time: Seasonal

Objective

Under the supervision of the Director, Youth Development, the Health Officer maintains a safe and healthy camp environment through preventive care and risk management, aligning with YMCA values and goals.

Job Responsibilities

  • Respond to medical needs of campers and staff, creating an enjoyable camp experience and supporting the community and leadership team.

Job Specifics

  • Model YMCA Christian principles in your work.
  • Establish long-term relationships with staff, volunteers, campers, and families.
  • Care for ill or injured campers/staff.
  • Demonstrate professional role modeling, communicate with the leadership team, fulfill duties, and complete end-of-summer reports.
  • Support staff through relationship building, coaching, evaluations, and professional growth.
  • Support and direct the assistant health officer and inclusion counselors.
  • Communicate proactively with parents regarding camper concerns and follow up promptly.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • RN, LNP, EMT, or WEMT licensed to practice in Oregon
  • Minimum age 21
  • First Aid, CPR, and AED certifications
  • Pass YMCA background check

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with youth
  • 2 years of camping or youth program supervisory experience
  • Driver’s license with a clean record

Essential Functions

  • Strong communication, positive attitude, flexibility, and teamwork skills.
  • Ability to handle high-stress situations and perform multiple tasks.
  • Support and connect with campers and staff.
  • Physical ability to lift at least 50 pounds and respond swiftly in emergencies.
