Client Interpreter - Temporary
Location: 500 NW Eastman Parkway, Gresham, OR 97030
Department: MFS Cash Oregon
Hours: 16-30 hours per week (Wednesday & Thursday 7:30am-4:00pm, Friday 8:30am-5:00pm, Saturday & Sunday 7:30am-4:00pm)
Duration: January 14, 2026 – April 30, 2026
Status: Non-exempt, Temporary
Roles and Responsibilities- Provide direct support to Spanish-speaking clients, assisting with client screening and intake processes.
- Assist clients in completing required documents and intake information.
- Support volunteer tax preparers to ensure information is understood by Spanish-speaking clients.
- Provide resources and referrals to related services and provide Spanish‑language literature.
- Assist the site with other tasks as needed.
- Support other tax sites when required.

- Under the supervision of the Lead Tax and Financial Services Coordinator, the Client Interpreter will provide interpretation services in Spanish for client reception and support the volunteer tax preparers, including oral interpretation of documents as necessary to facilitate initial client screening and to support tax return preparation.

- Ability to read, write and speak in English and Spanish fluently.
- Experience providing interpretation services.

- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Demonstrate flexibility to adapt to changing priorities and responsibilities depending on the needs of the program.

- Ability to work all scheduled hours and maintain availability through the duration of the assignment.
- Successful knowledge of and competency to operate a personal computer and utilize the internet.
- Competency in using Microsoft Office and Google Suite.
- High School diploma, GED or equivalent related experience.
- Experience working in diverse communities and understanding how to effectively serve clients from Latino communities.
- Ability to communicate fluently (read, write and speak) in Spanish and English.
Personal transportation allowing for travel within the Portland Metropolitan area in a timely manner. Must maintain a valid driver license, personal auto liability insurance coverage and a clean driving record.
MFS requires all employees and volunteers to complete a criminal background check which includes a fingerprint background check. The results will be considered individually.
Work EnvironmentWork will be completed in person at the Beaverton office location. Work is normally performed in a collaborative classroom/office environment and/or at other locations as deemed necessary. May require occasional early morning, weekend or evening work. The position requires regular use of computer, telephone, copier and may require accessing locations by way of stairs.
Position requires ability to sit for extended periods as well as stand occasionally. Position requires use of computer, telephone, and copier. The office environment is often busy and has elevated levels of noise. The position will require moderate lifting of materials and equipment up to 20 pounds.
