Overview
RN (OR/Surgery) – West Bank – FT (Days) at Ochsner Health. The RN provides patient care using the nursing process and supports the multidisciplinary team. The role requires commitment to quality, cultural sensitivity, and adherence to the Nurse Practice Act, ANA Code for Nurses, and Scope & Standards of Practice.
Responsibilities- Effectively use the nursing process to deliver patient care.
- Assess learning needs and implement teaching strategies appropriate for diverse patients, families, and interdisciplinary groups.
- Communicate, delegate, and manage nursing team resources and serve as a leader on the interdisciplinary team.
- Use data, information, and knowledge to evaluate and promote change to achieve optimal outcomes.
- Embrace customer satisfaction and employee morale and improve the profession of nursing.
- Adapt behavior to specific patient populations, including respect for privacy and communication style.
- Perform other related duties as required.
Education – Registered Nurse diploma.
Work Experience – Preferred:
Associate or bachelor’s degree in nursing.
Certifications – Current RN license in state of practice;
Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association.
Preferred – Certification in Clinical Specialty Area.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs)- Strong organizational skills and detail orientation.
- Good time management skills and ability to work in a fast‑paced environment and be self‑directed.
- Good interpersonal, leadership, and delegation skills and demonstrate good judgement and supervise or manage others.
- Proficiency in using computers, software, and web‑based applications.
Heavy work – Exerting 50 to 100 pounds of force occasionally; 25 to 50 pounds frequently; 10 to 20 constantly. Exposure to blood, body fluid, and tissue. Occupational risk for hazardous medications or waste.
