Job SummaryThis position provides emergency care at the scene of an accident or other emergency. Responsibilities involve preparation for response, response, delivery of care, transportation, documentation, and post‑response duties. The role also involves attending to patients being transported by ambulance on non‑emergency calls, ensuring patient safety en route, performing an initial assessment, recognizing patients needing immediate attention, administering life‑saving treatment (CPR, oxygen, intubation), inserting IVs, administering medication per physician order or ACLS protocol, and participating in community awareness and life‑safety programs.
CoreResponsibilities and Essential Functions
- Communication:
Able to communicate verbally in crisis situations with team members, patients and family members to ensure quality interaction. - Teamwork:
Works with EMT or Paramedic partner to form solutions to unique problems, respecting team input and achieving common goals. - Quality/Safety:
Adheres to safety policies and procedures and acts safely in all conditions, including accident scenes or private homes. - Job Knowledge:
Operates within the scope of practice and obtains online medical direction from the ED physician when required. - Financial Stewardship:
Maintains accurate supply levels, uses equipment appropriately, keeps vehicles in good working order, performs daily preventative maintenance checks. - Problem Solving:
Under pressure, analyzes problems to identify underlying issues and determine a course of action for patient care. - Other Duties:
Performs other duties as assigned; complies with all Well Star Health System policies, standards of work, and code of conduct.
Full‑time Paramedics are offered a $15,000.00 Sign‑On Bonus.
RequiredMinimum Education
- High School Diploma or GED (General or Accredited Program)
- ACLS – Advanced Cardiac Life Support or ARC‑ALS – American Red Cross Advanced Life Support or ACLS‑I – ACLS – Instructor
- BLS – Basic Life Support or ARC‑BLS – American Red Cross Basic Life Support or BLS‑I – Basic Life Support – Instructor
- PALS – Pediatric Advanced Life Support or ARC‑PALS – American Red Cross Pediatric Advanced Life Support or PALS‑I – PALS – Instructor
- PARA – Paramedic
- GADL – Georgia Driver’s License
- Minimum 1 year as an Emergency Medical Technician (Preferred)
