Overview

The Team Leader collaborates with the Store Manager and Assistant Store Manager to achieve operational, sales, and merchandising objectives while delivering a Legendary Customer Experience. The role also promotes a safe, productive environment and trains team members on policies and procedures.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Maintain regular and predictable attendance.
  • Work scheduled shifts and be flexible to varied hours, days, nights, weekends, and overtime as required by business needs.
  • Uphold and enforce a safe work environment by following policies and procedures.
  • Deliver Legendary Customer Service using GURA:
    • Greet the Customer.
    • Uncover Customer’s Needs & Wants.
    • Recommend Product Solutions.
    • Ask to Add Value & Appreciate the Customer.
  • Perform a combination of the following duties during 95 % of the day:
    • Execute assigned basic, promotional, and seasonal merchandising activities.
    • Perform opening/closing procedures.
    • Transport and deposit merchandise to the bank.
    • Assess store conditions and assign duties.
    • Organize and prioritize workflow with the daily planner.
    • Recover merchandise.
    • Participate in mandatory freight process.
    • Perform regular and promotional price changes.
    • Resolve customer complaints/issues ensuring a Legendary shopping experience.
    • Adhere to loss prevention standards and respond to alarm calls.
    • Communicate with team members regarding job functions, responsibilities, and financial goals.
    • Operate cash register/computer supervising cash handling procedures.
    • Assist team members with correct application of policies and procedures.
    • Sanitize and maintain poultry holding tanks and care for birds as required.
    • Operate forklift and baler.
    • Complete all documentation related to the above duties.
    • Obtain license or certifications as needed by the business.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications

Experience:

Retail experience and/or farming, ranching, pet/equine, or welding knowledge is strongly preferred. Supervisory experience preferred. Must be at least 18 years old and possess a valid driver’s license.

Education:

High school diploma or equivalent preferred, but not required. Must be able to read, write, and count accurately.

Preferred Knowledge, Skills or Abilities
  • Basic computer skills.
  • Ability to read, write, and count accurately.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with an ability to resolve issues ethically and with minimal conflict.
  • Ability to perform and execute the principal responsibilities of Team Members.
Working Conditions
  • Environment is generally indoor with moderate noise.
  • Work shifts vary by store but typically are no less than 4 hours and may exceed 8 hours.
  • Must promote a safe and productive work environment for team members and customers and adhere to company safety training and guidelines.
  • Indoor floors and outdoor lots have hard surfaces (concrete, asphalt, etc.); lighting and temperature are adequate.
  • Ability to work outdoors in adverse weather conditions.
Physical Requirements
  • Move and transfer merchandise weighing up to 50 pounds throughout the store.
  • Push and pull merchandise up to 2,000 pounds with proper equipment (e.g., pallet jack).
  • Lift or reach merchandise overhead occasionally.
  • Frequently stand, kneel, twist, crouch, squat, bend, stoop, and climb ladders.
  • Move throughout the store for an entire shift.
  • Safely access all areas of the store (selling floor, side lot, stock area, register area).
  • Operate and use all equipment necessary to run a store (dolly, hand truck, forklift, baler, computer, cash register).
  • Read, write, and count accurately to complete documentation.
  • Use strong written and verbal communication skills to communicate with team members and customers.
  • Process information and merchandise through the point‑of‑sale system.
  • Handle and be in contact with birds/poultry.
  • Successfully complete training and certification to dispense propane (age restrictions apply).
  • Travel as required to support district needs.
  • Drive or operate a vehicle for business needs.
  • Position is non‑sedentary.
  • Complete all required training and certification for various business needs.
