The Role
The key purpose of the role is to lead and deliver the local authority’s Building Control function, ensuring compliance with the Building Regulations, Building Act 1984, and associated legislation, while supporting service excellence, public safety, and customer satisfaction.
Key responsibilities will include but not be limited to:
Leading and supervising a team of operational Building Control Surveyors to ensure statutory compliance and service delivery
Managing and overseeing major and complex building control projects, including high-risk buildings
Inspecting deposited plans and undertaking site inspections in line with Building Regulations and statutory time frames
Leading enforcement action, investigations into dangerous structures, demolitions, and unauthorised works
Providing expert technical advice, acting as an expert witness where required, and supporting corporate and regeneration projects
The Candidate
To be considered for this role you will require the following essential qualifications:
Degree-level qualification in Building Control, Building Surveying, Construction, Structural Engineering, or equivalent
Corporate Membership of a relevant professional body (e.g. RICS, CABE)
Registration with the Building Safety Regulator (or working towards the appropriate class under the BICoF framework)
The below skills would be beneficial for the role:
Extensive experience working within a Local Authority Building Control service
Strong leadership, mentoring, and team management skills
Excellent knowledge of Building Regulations, enforcement processes, and the Building Act 1984
The client is looking to move quickly with this role and as such are offering £45 per hour Umbrella LTD (Inside IR35) (approximately £35 per hour PAYE).
