Wybers Wood Academy are looking to appoint a HLTA to join our academy in September 2026 on a temporary, part time basis.

Do you want to work for a Trust that is transforming educational outcomes for students in some of the most deprived areas in the North of England? If so, this could be the role for you.

Your new role

As a HLTA, you will complement teachers’ delivery of the curriculum and contribute to the development of other support staff, pupils and academy policies and strategies. You will work collaboratively with teaching staff and assist them in the whole planning cycle and the management/preparation of resources. You will supervise whole classes during the short term absence of teachers. You will provide support to pupils, teachers and the academy in order to raise standards of achievement for all, by utilising your advanced levels of knowledge and skills when assisting with planning, monitoring, assessing and managing classes and to encourage pupils to become independent learners.

You will provide support for pupil welfare and support the inclusion of pupils in all aspects of academy life.

Please see the attached job description on our website for the essential criteria and more information about the role.

If you feel you have the necessary skills and experience required for this position, then we would very much like to hear from you.

Your new school

At Wybers Wood, we are proud to be an inclusive, caring primary school with just under 400 pupils. Our recent Ofsted inspection praised us as an "exceptional school where pupils flourish." Inspectors highlighted:

  • "Staff have created a culture where children feel safe, happy and eager to learn".
  • "There is a strong sense of community across the school".
  • "Pupils achieve exceptionally well at this school".
  • Staff are overwhelmingly positive about the school. They appreciate the highly effective training and support they receive. Staff feel that leaders care and are considerate of their workload and well-being.

We take pride in our warm, friendly environment and our commitment to nurturing every child – not just academically, but socially and emotionally too. From their very first days, our pupils are encouraged to develop a love for learning, resilience and confidence, ensuring they achieve things they never thought possible.

Our dedicated staff team go above and beyond to provide the very best for our children – educationally, morally, spiritually and physically. In return, we provide an environment where colleagues feel supported, valued and part of something bigger. As Ofsted noted, "Staff feel proud to work at Wybers Wood Academy."

We are also proud to hold the Platinum Sportsmark and Silver Artsmark, reflecting our pupils’ exceptional achievements in sport and the arts. Our broad curriculum puts a strong emphasis on oracy, health and confidence, helping pupils to shine as articulate and self-assured young people.

Wybers Wood is a wonderful place to work – with a strong sense of teamwork, community and collaboration at its heart. As part of the Delta Academies Trust, we benefit from excellent professional development opportunities and a culture of reflection and improvement.

We strongly encourage all interested candidates to arrange a visit or get in touch with us before submitting an application — seeing our school in action is the best way to understand why Wybers Wood is such a special place to work and learn.

Staff across the trust are talented and enthusiastic, and all contribute to the trust’s success story.
