Hospital at Home Nursing Team Deputy Sister

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Band 6, Deputy Manager on the Hospital at Home Nursing team. The team works to an agreed model within Family Services to provide paediatric expertise when providing care to babies, children and young people. Bringing added protection and oversight of the paediatric guidelines and protocols to ensure a high level of care to BCYP accessing emergency care.
The Deputy role covers 15 hours over the month preferably in 2 x 7.5 hour shifts. You will need to be able to lead by example and provide both clinical and managerial support. Assist the Hospital at Home Manager/Senior Sister to ensure the Hospital at Home Nursing Team are led effectively. Lead with the vision of enhancing quality and safety of patient care.
The post holder will be expected to deputise which may occasionally include cross site working in the absence of the Ward Manager.
There will be a Band 7 Senior Sister/Charge Nurse supervisory post to oversee the management of this team and provide clinical expertise for children being cared for in an ECC.
Main duties of the job- Deputise for the department Sister/Charge Nurse in their absence.
- Create an environment that is based on trust, open communication, creative thinking and a cohesive team.
- Undertake the management of the care of a group of patients over the period of the shift, organising appropriate support services.
- Assist the Sister/Charge Nurse in the management of staffing resources to match peak clinical activity with appropriate staffing levels.
- Assist in maintaining the department/ward budget as delegated by the Sister/Charge Nurse. Ensure ward stock levels are kept at an appropriate level minimising wastage and purchasing cost effectively.
