Job Description & How to Apply Below

An opportunity has arisen within the Blood Sciences Department at Lincoln County Hospital for a Band 7 Advanced Practitioner in Haematology.

The laboratory is part of the Path Links pathology network. Path Links is a networked Pathology Service offering a wide range of diagnostic investigations on tissue, blood, and fluid samples. Its five main sites are Lincoln, Grantham, Boston, Scunthorpe and Grimsby.

All laboratories within the network are extremely well equipped with modern ‘state of the art’ analysers linked to a central computer system. Equipment and operating procedures are common across all laboratories.

As a network, we are constantly looking to develop the service. This allows for opportunities to develop new methods and procedures to benefit the patient pathway.

The Advanced Practitioner will work closely with the other senior staff within both Blood Sciences and Blood Transfusion to support the overall laboratory management. This post gives the opportunity for the successful candidate to be involved in a wider role within pathology and is an ideal opportunity to develop people and project management skills in a busy and modern department.

There will be the opportunity to help develop a core of BMS staff through training and development, including supporting both registration and specialist portfolio completion.

We are committed to personal and professional development. Continuing Professional Development (CPD) is encouraged.

Biomedical scientists carry out a range of laboratory and scientific tests to support the diagnosis and treatment of disease.

The successful candidate will be expected to support the laboratory manager and will also act as deputy where required.

Having significant discretion within existing policies and procedures the post holder will contribute to the technical work of the department; oversee the day to day running of the department and ensure the delivery of a quality service.

You will be required to have good communication skills and the ability to work under pressure.

Previous experience of staff training is desirable as is experience of UKAS ISO:15189. The successful candidate must be capable of working independently.

The Humber Health Partnership is one of the largest acute and community Partnership arrangements in the NHS, seeing well over one million patients every year and managing a budget of over £1.3 billion.

Made up of two Trusts – Northern Lincolnshire and Goole NHS Foundation Trust (NLAG) and Hull University Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust (HUTH) – our Partnership has significant ambitions and is committed to delivering world‑class hospital and community services for the 1.65 million people we serve.

Together we employ nearly 20,000 staff. Our five main hospital sites are Diana, Princess of Wales Hospital, Scunthorpe General Hospital and Goole and District Hospital, for NLAG and Hull Royal Infirmary and Castle Hill Hospital for HUTH.

As Teaching Hospitals working with the Hull York Medical School, we both lead and contribute to research in many areas – biomedical research, primary care, palliative medicine, cardiovascular and respiratory medicine, vascular surgery, cancer surgery and oncology.

We believe that by developing a diverse, inclusive, innovative, skilled and caring workforce, we can deliver excellent care to our patients and a great future for our employees, our Partnership and our community.

Should we receive a high volume of applications the advert may be closed earlier than stated.
