Working Pattern12 weeks training (hours will be confirmed with you at interview) after which you will work on a zero‑hour basis.
What You Will Do- Follow a highly regulated end‑to‑end sterilisation/decontamination process on surgical instruments used in local NHS and private hospitals, ensuring they can be safely used again.
- Prepare sterile consumables (dressings, linen, surgical instruments, and equipment) by decontamination, inspection, assembly and packing within predefined quality standards.
- Check, wash, lay up and pack sets of theatre instruments to meet contract specifications and quality standards.
- Safely operate and monitor machines and equipment (washer/disinfectors, ultrasonic and sterilisers) effectively.
- Record and log repairs, missing instruments or equipment on the Tracking and Traceability computer system (Synergy Trak).
- Return repaired instruments or equipment to stock or the appropriate coded sets or the Trust’s appointed person.
- An annual salary of £24,465 plus a 5% performance bonus, and generous shift allowances if you work overtime or unsociable hours. A higher cost‑of‑living allowance is provided if you work in London.

- Access to a Level 2 Healthcare Science Assistant Apprenticeship – a 12–15‑month fully funded programme with 20% of working hours dedicated to study.
- Educated to a good general standard with demonstrable verbal and numerical abilities.
- Basic end‑user IT skills to operate a track‑and‑traceability IT system.
- TVQ or NVQ Level 2 in Decontamination or equivalent experience.
- Previous experience in Sterile Services and/or health‑related products.
