Neonatal Staff Nurse

About the Unit

The Neonatal Unit provides care for sick and/or premature babies who require intensive, high‑dependency, special or transitional care. It comprises 12 cots for Intensive Care, High Dependency and Special Care babies from 27 weeks gestation, plus 4 transitional care cots on the maternity ward.

The post holder will work as part of the neonatal team delivering holistic, family‑centred care to babies and their families. The role is permanent and involves supporting senior team members and medical staff to ensure high‑quality care that meets local, regional and national standards.

• Provide direct neonatal nursing care to babies under care of the unit.
• Support senior team members and medical staff in day‑to‑day clinical activities.
• Develop and maintain a wide range of clinical skills and competencies related to neonatal care.
• Collaborate effectively with the multidisciplinary team, communicating clearly with colleagues and families.
• Work flexibly across the neonatal service and, when required, on paediatric wards.

• Qualified in paediatrics or demonstrate substantial knowledge of neonatal care.
• Experience working in a neonatal or paediatric setting is highly desirable.
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
