Complementary Therapist

Responsibilities

• Be a key member of the Complementary Therapy team contributing to the forward planning and development of complementary therapy services.
• Contribute to the effective and efficient delivery of care to patients with life limiting illness and their families.
• Promote the highest quality of complementary therapy care and support to inpatients, outpatients, wellbeing patients and community patients as well as carers and the bereaved, working alongside other members of the multi-disciplinary team.
• Work unsupervised delivering and maintaining high standards of care to patients and carers in Inpatients, Wellbeing, Outpatients and occasionally in the community.
• Ensure a comprehensive holistic assessment is undertaken prior to treatment and ongoing evaluation of interventions.
• Provide a range of specified Complementary Therapies which meet a variety of patient/carer needs.
• Comply with the requirements of the Professional Code of Conduct and Practise in accordance with National guidelines for the use of Complementary Therapies in Supportive and Palliative Care.

• Professionally recognised qualifications in Complementary Therapies
• Diploma in Body Massage
• Second Degree Reiki
• Membership of a professional association (e.g. Federation of Holistic Therapies)
• Up to date Indemnity Cover

• Diploma in Reflexology
• Crystal Healing
• Oncology massage
• Other relevant training to the role
• Complementary Therapy qualification in relation to palliative care or willingness to undertake relevant palliative care training

• Deliver a variety of therapies
• Maintain up-to-date Therapy Skills
• Evidence of previous practical experience delivering therapies
• Experience working within palliative care
• Experience in nursing/caring
• Experience working with children

This post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975 and as such it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service (formerly known as CRB) to check for any previous criminal convictions.

£27,693 to £30,389 a year (Salary based on 37.5 hours)
