NEC Presales Consultant

Overview

NEC Software Solutions, part of NEC Corporation, offers a housing management platform (NEC Housing) used by housing providers. The role can be remote or hybrid, subject to location. NEC has invested significantly in NEC Housing and continues to develop the platform to be the best in the sector.

Our Pre-Sales Consultants work with existing and potential clients in the social housing sector to ensure understanding of NEC Housing capabilities and how to maximise its use. The role collaborates with various parts of the business to shape proposed solutions, respond to tenders, create demonstrations, and perform related activities. We are seeking candidates with a strong passion for social housing, its challenges, and the ability to relate to clients, their teams, and services for customers.

• Shape the best approach and proposed use of the NEC Housing platform based on each client’s business requirements and organisational architecture.
• Plan and run demonstrations of the NEC Housing platform for prospects and current clients, understanding their goals and illustrating how NEC Housing achieves them.
• Collaborate with the sales team to ensure a shared understanding of the client and participate in pre- and post-demonstration engagement.
• Assist with producing bid responses, coordinating with colleagues across NEC to ensure accurate and professional submissions.
• Keep up-to-date with NEC Housing changes, including new functionality and prerequisites, through research and self-driven training.
• Configure and maintain a demonstration version of the NEC Housing platform aligned with latest features and required outcomes.
• Research and understand client organisations and audiences to ensure sessions are relevant and appropriate.
• Act as a subject matter expert for platform queries from sales colleagues.
• Provide feedback from clients to Product Managers.

With extensive experience, NEC supports growth into a best-in-class presales consultant. The following are essential and desirable requirements.

• Experience in pre-sales or demonstrated presentation capability from private sector with public sector customers, or within a public sector organisation.
• Good working knowledge of the social housing sector.
• Experience using and/or demonstrating an integrated housing management solution.
• Full UK Driving Licence, as travel will be required for the role.

• Knowledge of emerging requirements within the housing/local government market.
• Understanding of the local government/social housing environment, competitive landscape and market drivers.
• Ability to interact with and gather information from high-level managers and senior officers.
• Awareness of client retention and importance of customer satisfaction.
• Support for other teams in preparing written proposals.
• Support for the sales team pre- and post-client demonstration/engagement.
• Good understanding of wider housing management solutions (e.g., document management, asset management, mobile and scheduling).

• Ability to work on own initiative and manage time effectively to meet deadlines.
• Strong command of written and verbal English; good communication and teamwork skills.
• Ability to explain technical concepts in layman’s terms and build effective relationships.
• Good technical understanding of IT systems in general and the ability to absorb new information quickly.
• Willingness to travel.
