Whilst the new build offers state of the art patient facilities it has seen significant investment in staff facilities including a large staff rest area and changing facilities. The department also offers an extensive career development pathway and significant investment has been made to support the continued training and education of the ED/UCS team linked to each individual role, including RCN Level 1 & 2 competencies, NMTNG Level 1 & 2, TILS, TNCC, EPALS, ALS, IRMER and for autonomous practitioners access to educational courses as well as a comprehensive development and competency pathways.

As a result of the increased footprint of the new Emergency Department there has been a comprehensive staffing review of the establishment which has enabled us to work to recommended RCN safe staffing numbers, supporting quality and safe nursing care to all our patients.
