Neonatal Senior Staff Nurse

Located within Northern Lincolnshire and Goole NHS Foundation Trust at Diana Princess of Wales Hospital, Grimsby.

The post holder will provide direct care and coordinate and supervise care delivery of junior team members.

Duties include:

• Day‑to‑day running and safety of the NICU ward, working closely with the ward manager and deputy.
• Allocation of nursing staff to babies on the ward.
• Act as a role model for junior colleagues and a resource for other staff.
• Ensure open and honest communication, kindness and respect among staff.
• Conduct daily safety checks and initial escalation of safety concerns (staff shortfall, increased dependency and acuity demands).
• Assess and care for babies with chronic and acute illness, special care and intensive care admissions.
• Support staff on the transitional care ward.
• Maintain knowledge of children’s safeguarding and provide excellent communication with parents, families and colleagues.

• Registered Nurse Level 1 – RSCN/RN(c)
• Teaching and Assessing Qualification
• Evidence of post registration development in the relevant speciality (or equivalent)
• Leadership Qualification

• Substantial experience in clinical practice.
• Experience working as part of a multi‑disciplinary team.
• Evidence of continuing professional development.
• Experience coordinating the ward as the shift lead.
• Training/experience as a clinical supervisor.
• Complaints training.
