The purpose of this role is to complete the relevant stage of food testing to the required quality standards and internal methods/procedures, and to assist in the efficient day‑to‑day operation of the laboratory.
This is a full‑time role working 37.5 hours per week, with a 2 on / 2 off shift pattern from 10:00 till 21:00.
- Carry out registration of food samples in line with the quality standard and written methods/procedures.
- Carry out processing of food samples in line with the quality standard and written methods/procedures.
- Carry out media preparation in line with the quality standard and written methods/procedures.
- Carry out reading/confirmation tests in line with the quality standard and written methods/procedures.
- Carry out media QC, IQC, environmental monitoring in line with the quality standard and written methods/procedures.
- Adhere to documented procedures for the relevant section of the laboratory, ensuring that all relevant information concerning samples is recorded, that samples are handled correctly, and that all necessary records and quality data are maintained.
- Ensure UK health and safety legislation is maintained and help keep the working environment clean and tidy.
- Work with the team to drive the laboratory forward through continuous improvement.
- Understand the Laboratory Quality Manual to ensure compliance with policies, procedures and associated documents.
- Assist with operating best practice to meet UKAS accreditation standards.
- Provide a high level of internal and external customer care.
- Read and comply with company rules, procedures, agreements and any notices displayed by the Company.
- Perform any other reasonable tasks as delegated by the line manager.
- Degree or equivalent in science and experience in a laboratory would be desirable but is not essential as full training is provided.
- Good organisational and technical problem‑solving skills.
