HGV Class 1 Driver – Days & Nights – Immingham

SGM Recruitment is recruiting HGV Class 1 drivers for ongoing general haulage work based in Immingham, DN41 8DW
. Day and night shifts are available, with opportunities to discuss full-time, part-time and occasional shift availability.

Pay and opportunities

 * £200–£210 per shift, with your applicable rate agreed before starting.

The role

As an HGV Class 1 Driver, you will carry out general haulage deliveries involving curtain-side trailers, palletised goods and container work. The operation covers several contracts, so routes, delivery locations and workloads will vary.

Shifts typically range from 10 to 12 hours, depending on the assignment. These are total shift lengths, rather than driving hours. Drivers must follow applicable driving, break and rest requirements.

Day-shift start times generally range from 03:00 to 12:00, while night-shift starts generally range from 14:00 to 23:00. Your availability and suitable start times will be discussed during recruitment.

Responsibilities include vehicle checks, safe coupling and uncoupling, reversing, checking load security, completing delivery paperwork and reporting defects or delays promptly.

Requirements

Applicants for this HGV Class 1 Driver role must hold a valid UK Category C+E licence, Driver CPC and Digital Tachograph Card, with at least six months of Class 1 driving experience.

You should be reliable, safety-conscious and confident handling articulated vehicles, with a professional approach to customers and transport staff.

Assessment and induction

Before starting independently, drivers will complete a practical assessment covering driving, reversing, coupling and uncoupling. Successful candidates will then complete accompanied shifts to become familiar with the operation.
