Key Responsibilities of the Role
Responsible for a project or portfolio of projects (regional/sectoral)
Responsible for all aspects of planning, as defined by the Planning SOP
Reporting to Planning Department
Reporting to Business Unit / Project Management
Developing and maintaining schedules for pre‑construction / construction / commissioning
Developing and maintaining progress databases
Milestone projections, delay / float path analysis
Earned Value Management systems
Monitoring schedule performance and productivity
Auditing progress on site
Attending schedule meetings, liaising with client and subcontractors
Preparation of tender schedules
Preparation of histograms
Leading planning meetings
Supporting weekly workface planning systems
Resource / cash loading of schedules
Providing data for payment applications
Completing contract review reports
Responsibility for quality and accuracy of schedules and reports
Making relevant parties aware of issues and advising on solutions
Recording delay and disruption
Assisting in the preparation of claims and providing data for contractual disputes
Training staff, if required
Covering Senior Project Planner responsibilities when required
Establish performance and delivery criteria, ensuring that client requirements are being met
Develop and administer quality control provisions; liaise on project cost estimating and value engineering, as appropriate
Liaise with the client on KPI development and implementation
Champion company Safety implementation on site and at site Safety Leadership Teams Track PAS (progress against schedule) and report at weekly client update meetings
Authorise the issuance of contracts, purchase orders, and change orders
Approve contractor invoices for payment
Represent the Company in business with customers, consultants, contractors, and other public and/or private agencies and organisations
Research and prepare various reports pertaining to contractual issues, operations, policies, procedures, and other issues, as appropriate
Planning of all resources including labour, materials and sub‑contractors
To manage and drive a large team to meet all project requirements and deadlines
Ensure project profitability
Essential Criteria for the Role
A trade background or a third level qualification
Project Management experience
Proven record of coordinating and managing large projects
Diploma/Degree qualification
Excellent communication skills
Ability to work well under pressure and within a strict deadline environment
Ability to drive a large-scale project
