Duration: approx. 12 months | Minimum 3 days per week
Role Overview
As Interim Senior Process Engineer, you play a key role in scaling proprietary sensor technology from lab-scale development to wafer-level pilot production. You bridge R&D and manufacturing, translating research processes into stable, reproducible and manufacturable process flows. This is not a research or academic role — the team is looking for someone who brings real industrial production experience and knows how to build a product, not just develop one.
A big part of your time is hands-on: wafer-level processing, process development and stabilisation. The remainder involves supplier alignment and contributing to the further buildout of the production setup and team.
Key Responsibilities
Lead process development and scale-up from lab-scale to production
Translate R&D processes into stable, reproducible and manufacturable process flows
Define, optimise and document process parameters for thin-film, coating, deposition and integration steps
Troubleshoot process and equipment-related issues in collaboration with R&D and equipment engineers
Drive yield improvement, process stability and manufacturability
Work closely with equipment vendors and internal teams on tool qualification and process integration
Support cleanroom and pilot-line operations, ensuring robust process control and repeatability
Contribute to technology transfer from R&D into pilot and future production environments
Think along on which additional people and capabilities are needed to further shape the production setup
Your Profile
5+ years of hands-on experience in semiconductor processing or advanced sensor manufacturing
Proven track record in scaling processes from R&D to pilot or production environments — industry experience is essential, purely academic backgrounds will be critically assessed
Strong understanding of thin-film processing, deposition techniques and device integration
Experience with wafer-level processing environments is a strong plus
Background at semiconductor or process technology companies is a relevant indicator
HBO or WO degree in materials science, physics, electrical engineering, nanotechnology or a related field
Comfortable taking a clear technical position in an environment where internal opinions may differ
Proactive, structured and quality-driven — you add knowledge the team does not yet have`
