General
Summary:
Provides mammography imaging services. Responsibilities include operating equipment and performing various mammography procedures, preparing and positioning patients, selecting anatomical and technical parameters accurately, explaining procedures and educating patients about the role of regular mammography in preventive breast health, developing and evaluating film for technical quality such as density, contrast, definition, and distortion, following radiation safety procedures and guidelines, ensuring prompt submission of high‑quality images and documents to PACS, ensuring equipment is properly functioning and reporting potential problems or malfunctions, and assisting in maintaining a clean and orderly department.
/ Experience Required
- High School diploma equivalency with 2 years of cumulative experience OR Associate’s degree/Technical degree OR 4 years of applicable cumulative job‑specific experience.
- BLS Provider credentialed from the American Heart Association (AHA) obtained prior to hire or transfer date.
- American Red Cross (ARC) CPR for Professional Rescuers card accepted upon hire; renewal must be a BLS Provider card from AHA.
- Radiologic Technologist specializing in Mammography credentialed from the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) within 12 months of hire or transfer date.
- Medical Sonographer credentialed from the American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS) within 12 months of hire or transfer date.
- Ability to perform screening and diagnostic mammography in a high‑volume Comprehensive Breast Center. Biopsy experience preferred but willing to train. Position requires learning Automated Whole Breast Ultrasound.
