General Summary
:
In this role you will provide physical therapy services to patients impaired by physical dysfunction, including assessment, treatment planning and implementation of treatment plans. You will participate in patient care conferences, program development and screenings as appropriate. You will provide supervision for PTAs and aides as assigned and complete appropriate documentation while adhering to policies, procedures, and current clinical practice standards.

• Conduct physical therapy screenings and evaluations to determine patient status.
• Provide physical therapy treatment consistent with the professional and ethical standards of the APTA.
• Develop and implement treatment plans using strengthening, modalities, and retraining to maximize patient independence.
• Provide direct patient care in accordance with productivity standards using graded activities to facilitate functional restoration.
• Check, instruct, assign and review the work of PTAs and aides as assigned.
• Document to maintain quality of the medical record, ensuring accuracy, continuity of care and reimbursement guidelines.
• Participate in patient care conferences and company meetings as requested.
• Participate in CQI activities, continuing education and in‑service programs.
• Coordinate and/or participate in in‑service programs for internal/external groups.
• Assist in new program development.

• Successful completion of an accredited Physical Therapy program.
• Licensure as required by the State of Michigan.

• Ability to exercise professional judgment and initiative when analyzing problems and recommending solutions.
• Initiative and flexibility in the work environment.
• Ability to respond effectively to the needs of patients and their families.
• Physical ability to bend, position, transfer and lift patients weighing from 80 to over 300 pounds, without restriction, using recommended lifting devices.
