What you need to know (Job Overview)When you join our team you will use healthcare and/or customer service skills to assist with every step of the blood collection process. This includes collaborating with your team to transport and set up equipment at collection sites in local communities, creating a welcoming environment for volunteer donors, and following safety procedures while collecting lifesaving blood donations delivered to hospitals. The Red Cross offers paid phlebotomy training with opportunities to grow your healthcare skills and career within the organization.

Key Responsibilities- Take time to personally connect with donors, listen to their stories, and help them understand how impactful their donation is.
- Collaborate with teammates to create a welcoming environment so volunteer donors feel comfortable returning.
- Be detail-oriented to ensure blood collected meets goals, regulatory requirements, and can be safely transfused.
- May drive Red Cross vehicles and work with the team to set up and tear down equipment at donation sites. Position may require a minimum height of 60 inches to operate Red Cross vehicles safely.
Standard Schedule info and locations are provided to meet donor/community needs, including variable schedules, rotating weekends, and potential overnight travel in some locations. Schedule is provided two to three weeks in advance.
Pay Information- Starting rate $19.00/hour.
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Customer service experience and effective verbal communication skills
- Current, valid driver's license with a good driving record
- Physical requirements:
ability to lift, push or pull heavy objects, good manual dexterity, ability to sit or stand for long periods, and adaptability to long irregular hours and frequent schedule changes. Minimum height of 60 inches may be required for vehicle operation - Ability to work as part of a team to set up and tear down equipment for mobile blood drives
- Basic computer skills; proficient with Microsoft Office applications
- Prior healthcare or phlebotomy experience (CNA, MA, EMT, etc.)
- Prior leadership experience
