Job Title: Lab Technician I
Location: Groton, CT
Type: Contract
Compensation: $23.50
Work Model: Onsite - onsite
Hours: 40.0 hours/week

Overview
The AIP Lab Technician is responsible for laboratory support functions that allow accurate, high quality necropsy/histology study work for rodent and non-rodent safety studies in compliance with the study protocol and guidelines. The pathology data collected and processed on these studies enable candidate selection, first-in-human studies, 13-week studies and early research and target safety and investigative work

Responsibilities

  • Support study setup to prepare for necropsy and histology portions of non-GLP and GLP studies.
  • Train to fully support necropsy and histology techniques as outlined in SOPs and study protocols.
  • Communicate with the pathologist and laboratory manager to ensure proper collection, handling, and submission of specimens, including chain of custody forms for outsourced work.
  • Ensure proper use and preventative maintenance of equipment and laboratory space.
  • Maintain full traceability of work and specimens.

Requirements

  • HS degree with 1-3 years of relevant experience OR A.S Degree with 0-2 years of relevant experience.
  • Foundation in general laboratory skills and processes.
  • Understanding of standard operating procedures (SOP).
  • Compliance with lab safety and PPE guidelines.
  • Able to recognize, document, and resolve data errors.
  • Able to multitask while maintaining efficiency and quality.
  • Ability to perform ex vivo work and wear appropriate PPE.
  • Must be physically capable of lifting, sitting, standing, walking, and bending.

Preferred

  • A.S. Degree with 1-3 years of relevant experience.
  • Good Laboratory Practice proficiency.
  • Basic technical knowledge in histology or animal science.
  • Hands-on experience with necropsy or tissue collection, histology techniques, microtomy, tissue processing, paraffin embedding, and slide staining.
  • Experience working in a GLP lab environment.
