- Proactively engage and make a connection with customers.
- Ask questions and listen to customer needs.
- Direct customers to merchandise, informing them about upcoming events, promotions, mobile offers, and STAR card.
- Provide premier customer service.
- Cooperate and build positive, inclusive, respectful relationships; take accountability for your own actions and outcomes.
- Maintain store appearance.
- Cross‑sell products and know store layout.
- Suggest trendy products and current promotions based on individual customer needs.
- Upsell products.
- Stay up‑to‑date with product features and leverage company tools and technology to confidently provide product knowledge and specs.
- Use a Point‑of‑Sale system to process cash exchanges, discounts, gift cards, credit cards, debit cards, cash handling, including counting money and returning accurate amounts.
- Complete various forms of paperwork, reports, and reconciliation.
- Serve as the keeper of merchandise; complete all inventory processes, ensuring merchandise is properly checked in and accurately ticketed. May participate in periodic inventories.
- Adhere to assigned work schedule and complete work assignments accurately and completely.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Basic knowledge of product merchandise.
- Retail experience preferred, but not required.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills; able to read, write, and interpret instructional documents such as safety rules and operating instructions.
- Ability to communicate with customers, peers, management, and over the telephone with proper etiquette.
- Basic math skills: addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division.
- Reasoning ability: multitask while attending to customers, remain flexible to business needs, work effectively as part of a team, and take initiative independently of direct supervision.
- No experience required.
- High school graduate or equivalent preferred.
This position involves constant moving, talking, hearing, reaching, grabbing, and standing for at least two consecutive hours. May occasionally involve stooping, kneeling, crouching, and climbing ladders. Vision abilities include close vision, color vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. Involves lifting at least 25 lbs. and up to 50 lbs. in some departments. Work is typically performed indoors but may be assigned outdoors, depending on location.
