Position OverviewTPG Marinas – Noank Shipyard is currently seeking a skilled and experienced Marine Technician. The ideal candidate has a passion for boats, strong mechanical aptitude, and a desire to advance. Responsibilities include maintenance, repair, and troubleshooting of marine engines, electrical and hydraulic systems, and related equipment. Certifications are a plus but not required. A strong work ethic earns opportunities to earn certifications through our organization.
Responsibilities- Inspect, maintain, and repair boats of all kinds.
- Perform routine maintenance and inspections on marine engines (outboards and inboards).
- Use hand and power tools for repairs and maintenance.
- Communicate with boat owners and teammates to complete repairs correctly and timely.
- Utilize diagnostic equipment to test and repair inboard–outboard engines for service/warranty purposes.
- Troubleshoot, test, repair, replace, remove, and install systems and components.
- Assess jobs before starting, considering budgeted time vs actual time.
- Maintain accurate records of work performed, parts used, time spent, and additional repairs needed.
- Source/research parts needed for tasks.
- Apply knowledge of marine systems (electrical, plumbing & water systems).
- Promote company products/services to meet customer needs.
- Promptly file repair orders for recording.
- Own tools.
- Follow TPG safety and environmental rules; willingness to take training.
- Wear proper personal protective equipment as required.
- Report all accidents, injuries, spills, and near misses immediately.
- Any other duties as assigned by TPG Marinas and the Direct Manager.

- High school diploma or equivalent (preferred).
- Technical school training (preferred).
- 5 years’ experience (preferred).
- ABYC and/or manufacturer certifications (preferred).
- Basic outboard training/experience (plus).
- Must carry own tools.
- Maintain training credentials.
- Valid driver’s license.
- Basic boat handling skills (preferred).
- Experience with gas and diesel engines (preferred).
- Ability to work on‑site at Noank Shipyard and Spicers Marina and on‑road service to TPG locations.
- Ability to occasionally lift up to 50 lbs.; stand for extended periods; lift in tight spaces; ability to work in elements regularly.
- Ready for a fully flexible schedule (days, nights, weekends, holidays).
