NRWA (Nashua River Watershed Association) is a highly respected environmental nonprofit serving 32 communities in north central Massachusetts and southern New Hampshire. Founded in 1969, NRWA delivers a comprehensive range of programs focused on water and land protection, ecological restoration, climate resilience through nature‑based solutions, and environmental education.
Position OverviewReporting to the Executive Director, the Development Director is responsible for the strategic planning and execution of all development initiatives to meet NRWA’s annual revenue goals and support long‑term organizational sustainability. The role serves as a key strategic partner to the Executive Director and plays a central role in positioning NRWA for its next phase of growth, including expanded major gifts, foundation support, communications, and community engagement.
The Development Director oversees communications strategy and manages related staff.

- Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree or professional certification (e.g., CFRE) preferred.
- Minimum of 5–7 years of progressive nonprofit development experience, including individual giving, major gifts, and foundation fundraising.
The salary range for this position is $95,000 – $115,000 and does not include benefits and bonus potential. Compensation is determined by a variety of factors including but not limited to the role, function, and associated responsibilities, as well as a candidate’s work experience, education, knowledge, skills, and geographic location.
