The Communications Coordinator acts as the face of the library for the public, ensuring the Library’s message is always aligned with its mission. This role is creative and detail-oriented, with the ability to implement multi-media Communications campaigns that effectively promote Library programs and resources. They collaborate with different departments to ensure that messages are clear, consistent, and delivered effectively across various platforms, such as social media, website, email, and press releases.

Library Functions:
- Promotes community awareness of library's services and programs using compelling content to communicate with the media and local business community
- Works closely with different departments to gather relevant information, develop Communications strategies, and enhance the organization's public image
- Develops design standards and branding for digitally produced library materials
- Responsible for creating and managing digital content of the library’s website
- Monitors and posts on a variety of library social media sites
- Analyzes social media and website analytics to track engagement and adapt strategies accordingly
- Plans and implements promotional aspects of the summer reading program
- Participates in system-wide library programming planning, establishing timelines for each programming cycle
- Commissions printing jobs and orders promotional materials
- Handles any public relations issues or crises, working closely with library leadership to manage responses
- Helps maintain and build the library's reputation as a vital community resource
- Ensures timely and transparent Communications during challenging situations, such as service disruptions or emergencies
- Keeps abreast of current developments in the field of web design
- Performs other duties as assigned
- Frequently operates standard office machinery
- Occasionally lifts light objects less than 20 pounds and carries them short distances
- Travels by personal automobile between branches or as required
- Bachelor's degree in journalism, web design or equivalent experience
- Three years of public relations and/or graphic design experience
- Ability to plan and evaluate public relations techniques
- Ability to communicate and maintain effective working relationships with staff at all levels of the organization
- Knowledge of digital media formats used for text, images, video, audio and interactive media
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with Trustees, vendors, staff and public
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office products
