We are partnered with an AMAZING manufacturer in Grove City, OH on their search for an experienced CNC SETUP MACHINIST
. This position is responsible for setting up CNC machining centers, getting parts through First Article approval, and setting up Operators for success during production. This is an ONSITE position with a schedule of Monday-Friday 7:30am-4:30pm.
- Perform complete setups on 4- and 5-axis VMCs and HMCs
, including tooling, work holding/fixtures, program loading, and all machine offsets within quoted times and within quoted part cycle times - Provide production cost estimates for use in quoting
- Interpret engineering drawings, GD&T, and multi-op setup sheets to prepare machines for complex part geometries.
- Validate setups by performing thorough first-piece inspections using micrometers, indicators, height gauges, bore gauges, and CMM data
- Collaborate with programmers to recommend improvements to toolpaths, speeds/feeds, and cycle times for multi-axis machining
- Troubleshoot issues related to tool reach, interference, work holding clearance, and axis/rotary behavior
- Optimize machining processes by recommending updated tooling, fixturing, and cutting strategies
- Maintain setup documentation and tooling lists for repeat jobs
- Ensure machines run safely and consistently during initial production runs
- Monitor production of parts and address issues as they arise
- Perform other duties as assigned
- Proficient reading, writing, and computer skills; strong math skills
- Strong understanding of tooling, work holding, and different types of metals
- Strong understanding of CNC programming and Fanuc Controls, including the ability to edit and troubleshoot G & M codes
- 3+ years of CNC machining or setup experience, with 2+ years working on 4- or 5-axis machining centers
- Strong understanding of multi-axis work holding
, orientation, and part datum structures. - Ability to read and interpret complex blueprints, drawings, and GD&T
- Proficient with precision measuring instruments and inspection techniques, including CMMs
- Able to work independently and solve setup-related issues quickly
