work days: up to 184 days, 1.0 fte
salary: annual entry level salary placement from $60,544 to $100,773 for a full-time position; salary prorated based on start date, fte, and prior experience and semester units beyond a bachelor’s degree.

requirements
  • valid california teaching credential with an authorization to teach special education in a mild/moderate setting
  • valid clad/bclad/el authorization (emergency permits are not accepted)
  • valid added autism authorization
qualifications
  • education: a bachelor's degree, including all courses/exams needed to meet credentialing and subject matter competency
  • experience: as mandated by the state and acceptable by the district
  • personal qualities: resourceful, innovative, helpful, diligent, persistent, and willing to collaborate with colleagues and families
duties and responsibilities
  • provide research-based specialized instruction aligned to each student’s iep goals
  • assess student progress and adjust instructional strategies as needed
  • develop and implement annual ieps with present levels of performance, needs, goals, and services
  • schedule and participate in team meetings; collaborate with child study team
  • coordinate delivery of special education services per each student’s iep
  • create a positive learning environment with individualized instruction and appropriate technology
  • serve as the primary contact for parents
  • conduct special education evaluations and reevaluations
  • provide direction and input for supervision of special education assistants
  • demonstrate thorough knowledge of special education principles and the ability to communicate effectively with students and parents
  • deliver individualized and small group instruction; differentiate as needed; adapt curriculum to student needs
  • establish classroom behavior standards and a conducive learning environment
  • maintain records, progress reports, and provide feedback to students and families
  • use data to inform instruction and foster student growth
  • support 21st-century skills and prepare students for post-secondary outcomes
  • competently use technology and various application packages
  • promote positive relationships with students and staff; participate in school initiatives and committees
  • attend required in-service activities and meet deadlines; follow district policies
essential job functions
  • physical: stand and sit for extended periods; see and read printed material; hear and understand speech; communicate in english; lift/carry up to 25 pounds; move about the building as needed
  • mental: focus on tasks, learn quickly, meet deadlines, and communicate clearly in writing and speech
  • social: interact daily with staff; maintain consistent attendance; protect student confidentiality
