The Nurse Educator is a clinical practitioner with advanced skill and expertise in nursing care and education. They plan, create, and facilitate mandatory and non‑mandatory education classes for nurses, work with departments and units to identify training needs, and are responsible for the onboarding of Patient Care Services employees. They will also take an active role in Shared Governance at Wellstar MCG Health.
CoreResponsibilities And Essential Function
Educational Assessment: Partners with departments and units to identify training needs and competency requirements. Designs training curricula, collaborates with leadership to refine objectives and delivery, conducts annual educational needs assessments, and builds year‑long program plans to fill gaps.
Training Delivery: Facilitates training courses for nurses, provides feedback to trainees, collaborates with other nursing educators to enhance delivery quality.
Quality of Care: Maintains relationships, supports a healthy work environment, fosters collaboration among nurses, physicians, and other care providers, sustains a culture of inquiry and excellence, and implements care delivery.
Onboarding
Education:
Plans and organizes onboarding education for Patient Care Services employees throughout the year to establish a foundational knowledge base. Performs other duties as assigned and complies with all Wellstar Health System policies, standards of work, and code of conduct.
Minimum Education
- Bachelors Nursing or Masters Nursing (Preferred)
- RN – Reg Nurse (Single State) or RN‑COMPACT – RN – Multi‑state Compact
- BLS – Basic Life Support or ARC‑BLS – Amer Red Cross Basic Life Support or BLS‑I – Basic Life Support – Instructor
All certifications are required upon hire unless otherwise stated.
Required Minimum ExperienceMinimum 3 years experience in clinical nursing.
Required Minimum SkillsMinimum 3 years experience in clinical nursing.
