OverallJob Summary
This position is responsible for enrolling & completing the training course Level 1 provided by Petsense, “Paragon,” in preparation for a career in grooming and/or bathing.
Paragon is a virtual distant learning program where students are guided through a 15-week training program designed to educate students on the fundamentals in bathing and grooming, while also providing the necessary basic skills in safety, pet first aid and CPR, pet handling skills, dog anatomy and dog physiology. This is achieved through a combination of hands-on practice, book work, online exams, watching videos and submitting photos of practical application for grading.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Maintain regular and predictable attendance.
- Work scheduled shifts and have the ability to work varied hours, days, nights, weekends and overtime as dictated by business needs.

- Learn & perform duties including bathing, grooming, nail trimming, ear cleaning, and customer service, safely and efficiently, throughout training.
- Successfully enroll & complete the Paragon training for Level 1 (Groom Tech) by the required timeline of five weeks.
- Ensure the safety and well-being of animals, including inspecting for parasites, disease, or injury.
- Practice safety and sanitization protocols, maintain grooming tools and equipment.
- Assist in generating business through customer calls, scheduling, follow-ups, and verifying vaccinations.
- Maintain records of pet clients and operate computer systems as needed.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Comfort working with dogs and cats, demonstrating patience and compassion.
- Own grooming tools or willingness to purchase them.
- High school diploma or equivalent; ability to read, write, and count accurately.
Skills and Abilities
- Operate grooming tools and equipment effectively.
- Effective communication and compassion for animals.
- Attention to detail, problem-solving, basic computer skills.
- Strong interpersonal skills and conflict resolution.
- Indoor environment with moderate noise, exposure to grooming equipment, pets, and waste.
- Shift lengths generally from 4 to over 8 hours, including weekends and evenings.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds, stand for long periods, move animals and equipment.
- Ability to operate grooming instruments and perform physical tasks like bending and kneeling.
