OverallJob Summary
This position is responsible for interacting with customers and team members, supporting selling initiatives and performing assigned tasks, while providing legendary customer service.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities (Min 5%)- Maintain regular and predictable attendance.
- Work scheduled shifts and be flexible for varied hours, days, nights, weekends and overtime as dictated by business needs.
- Take initiative to support selling initiatives (TEAM):

- Engage with the customer and/or pet

- Perform a combination of the following duties 95% of the day:
- Operate cash register/computer following cash handling procedures.
- Recovery of merchandise.
- Participate in mandatory freight process.
- Complete Plan‑o‑gram procedures (merchandising, sets, and resets).
- Assemble merchandise.
- Perform janitorial duties.
- Execute price changes/markdowns.
- Assist customers with loading purchases.
- Ensure the safety and well‑being of live animals; sanitize and maintain holding tanks and care for live animals as required.
- Complete all documentation associated with any of the above job duties.
- Team Members may be required to perform other duties as assigned.
- No experience required; retail experience and/or pet/live animal knowledge is strongly preferred.
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred but not required; must be able to read, write and count accurately.
- Pet/Live Animal, pet food, pet product knowledge strongly preferred.
- Strong communication and problem‑solving skills.
- Basic computer skills.
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to resolve issues ethically and with minimal conflict.
- Favorable indoor environment, moderate noise; indoor floors and outdoor lots are hard surfaces.
- Work shifts generally no less than 4 hours and may exceed 8 hours.
- Promote a safe and productive work environment and adhere to company safety training and guidelines.
- Position is non‑sedentary and requires moving throughout the store and outdoor areas quickly and safely.
- Operate equipment efficiently, safely, and accurately; provide the highest level of customer service.
- Occasional lifting or reaching merchandise overhead; frequent standing, kneeling, twisting, crouching, squatting, bending, stooping, and climbing ladders.
- Move throughout the store for an entire shift; access all areas safely.
- Operate store equipment such as computer and cash register.
- Read, write and count accurately.
- Communicate effectively with team members and customers.
- Process information through the point‑of‑sale system.
- Move and transfer live animals, equipment and merchandise up to 50 lbs.
- Successfully complete all required training and certification.
- Lift 50+ lbs.
