Position: Security Mgr, Columbia County

Job Summary

Responsible for day-to-day operations of the Security & Parking programs at all Well Star Health System facilities, including selection and assignment of officers at hospital locations, training coordination, parking management, security reporting systems, and coordination of security technology, equipment, and alarm monitoring. The Security Manager assists the Director of security with internal investigations and budget administration, coordinates and assists in the planning, development, implementation, and evaluation of segments of a system-wide emergency management program as it relates to the security function, and assumes authority in the absence of the Director of Security.

Core

Responsibilities and Essential Functions Training

Develops and implements effective training programs for all Security team members, creates and implements security related programs and presentations, identifies training needs, researches and develops applicable classes and programs, educates security personnel on intelligence and other information concerning activities that impact the WHS Security mission, and ensures security team members meet competency requirements.

Safety/Emergency Preparedness

Participates in planning and conducting emergency management training, workshops, conferences, and test exercises, works with other departments to promote emergency management programs, and participates in special activities to ensure effective utilization of System resources in an emergency.

Customer Service

Acts with honesty and integrity, maintains a positive working relationship with facility staff, communicates effectively with diverse people, writes accurate reports, and provides excellent customer service.

Investigations

Conducts investigations assigned by the Executive Director of Security Services, installs and maintains covert video surveillance systems, stays current with computer equipment and training, and applies investigative techniques including interviews, interrogations, evidence handling and preservation, and covert video surveillance.

Leadership

Acts as liaison to outside agencies, completes audits and inspections, provides documentation and recommendations on security related issues, instructs staff on security topics, performs duties on a rotating schedule, ensures departmental policies and procedures are updated, sets an example for team members, and performs other duties as assigned while complying with all Wellstar Health System policies and code of conduct.

Required

Minimum Education
  • Bachelor's in Criminal Justice
Required Minimum Licenses and Certifications
  • VSDL – Valid State Driver's License or GADL – Georgia Driver's License
  • GAWCP – Georgia Weapons Carry Permit
  • BLS – Basic Life Support or BLS-I – Basic Life Support Instructor or BLS-P – Basic Life Support Provisional (30 Days)
Additional Licenses and Certifications

Must possess a Georgia Weapons Carry License issued under GA code 16-11-129 upon hire, American Heart Association Heartsaver certification upon hire, ability to obtain IAHSS Supervisor Certification within one year of appointment or promotion, active membership in a state/local IAHSS chapter within one year, valid Georgia driver’s license, insurable driving history, and must pass psychological examination and physical fitness standards upon hire and annually thereafter.

Required

Minimum Experience

Minimum 5 years in private security or law enforcement management or related field CHPA or CPP preferred. Experience with and knowledge of The Joint Commission and CMS Conditions of Participation preferred.

Required Minimum Skills

Effective oral and written communication, familiarity with criminal and civil statutes, sound decision making in emergency or highly stressful situations, certification in Taser, Defensive Tactics and Techniques for Effective Aggression Management (TEAM), AHA Hearts Course, FEMA 100, 200 and 700 courses or equivalent qualifications, supervisory skills, ability to establish effective working relationships, confidentiality of information, and ability to accept responsibility and manage authority.
