Your roleThe Cloud Accounting Specialist supports clients through cloud‑based bookkeeping, reporting, and advisory services. The role focuses on accurate financial data, efficient processes, and practical insights. This person works closely with clients and internal teams to maintain clean books, streamline workflows, and enable better decision‑making. This position plays a key role in onboarding new clients to cloud systems and building internal capability by training and developing staff.
Clientaccounting & reporting
- Maintains full cycle bookkeeping and payroll functions using cloud accounting platforms (Quick Books Online, Xero, Sage Intacct, Wagepoint, etc)
- Records transactions, reconciles accounts, and ensures data accuracy and completeness
- Reviews, reconciles and organizes historical accounting records for catch-up and clean-up projects
- Identify issues and errors and investigate discrepancies for discussion with supervisor for resolutions
- Acts as a day-to-day contact for client questions and issue resolution
- Leads onboarding of new clients into cloud accounting services
- Transitions clients from desktop or manual processes to cloud solutions
- Cleans up historical data and establishes accurate opening balances
- Builds standardized, scalable workflows for new engagements
- Trains clients on systems, processes, and best practices for recordkeeping
- Identifies trends, risks, and opportunities in financial data
- Responds to client inquiries and resolves accounting issues in a timely manner
- Provides guidance on best practices for recordkeeping and system use
- Maintains audit‑ready files and supporting documentation
- Assists with T4s, WCB, HST/GST filings, payroll remittances, and other compliance tasks
- Supports year-end file preparation and coordination with tax and assurance teams
- Lead, mentor, train and develop staff, while providing direction and support to Managers.
- Build high-performing teams through coaching, feedback, performance management and knowledge sharing.
- Practice and professional development.
- Lead practice and professional development initiatives that strengthen technical capability, consistency, efficiency and collaboration across the firm.
- Support continuous improvement by advancing firm processes, innovation and operational effectiveness.
- Mentors and supports junior staff on client files and cloud tools
- Reviews work and provides clear, actionable feedback
- Delivers training on cloud systems, workflows, and bookkeeping standards
- Shares best practices and drives consistency across engagements
