About

the Role

As a Junior Buyer, you will play a key role in supporting our production operations by managing the procurement of both direct and indirect materials. Reporting to the Purchasing Manager, you’ll be responsible for ensuring cost-effective purchasing while maintaining high standards of quality and on‑time delivery. This position requires regular use of our custom business software to track, forecast, and process orders efficiently.

You will execute purchase orders for domestic and international suppliers and collaborate closely with Production, Logistics, and Accounting teams to keep inventory aligned with production schedules and company objectives.

Key Responsibilities Procurement & Supplier Management
  • Issue, modify, and cancel purchase orders to domestic and international suppliers and coordinate with Logistics for pickup.
  • Receive order confirmations, update the system, and maintain open order reports.
  • Manage the purchase ticket system to handle purchase requests for miscellaneous items.
Inventory and Material Planning
  • Maintain part planning and purchasing parameters (minimum on hand, lot sizes, lead times, cost, etc.) and supplier information in the business system software.
  • Analyze material requirements to meet production schedules and maintain inventory targets.
  • Resolve material shortages and provide regular updates to Production and Planning associates.
  • Coordinate storage and movement of off‑site inventories with the Logistics team.
  • Manage VMI programs in place with the suppliers.
Supplier Management
  • Evaluate supplier performance, discuss vendor scorecards with strategic suppliers on a quarterly basis, arrange vendor audits, and build supplier relationships.
  • Manage RMA/warranty issues with suppliers, coordinating shipments of parts for warranty or repair.
Logistics and Issue Resolution
  • Monitor on‑time delivery and expedite shipments when necessary.
  • Resolve receiving errors with the Logistics Department and invoice discrepancies and payment issues with the Accounting Department.
Compliance and Reporting
  • Maintain material SDS sheets as required by the Health and Safety Policy.
  • Participate in the material review board to process non‑conforming materials.
  • Track and report monthly cost savings.
What We’re Looking For Required
  • Post‑Secondary Education (Materials Management, Supply Chain, Business Administration, or related field preferred)
  • Minimum 1‑3 years of purchasing experience in manufacturing industry.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal; ability to communicate professionally with people within all levels of the organization and external contacts.
  • Conflict resolution and negotiation skills; the ability to handle complaints, settle disputes, and resolve conflicts.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office and comfortable using ERP systems for planning and PO processing.
  • Occasional Travel (Domestic and International)
Preferred
  • Experience managing VMI programs, international purchasing, and freight coordination.
  • Familiarity with import/export documentation and Incoterms.
  • Mandarin Speaking
