The Client Services (CS) Clerk assists in recruiting, training, hiring, and supervising approximately 35 part‑time student staff. Responsibilities include maintaining efficient customer service, adhering to internal controls, ensuring building safety, and providing daily functional supervision of part‑time staff.
Daily tasks involve closing the Guelph Gryphons Athletic Centre, conducting building inspections, and performing security checks. The CS Clerk handles Point of Sale transactions using the Active Net Software, processes membership fees, sells merchandise, rents equipment, and registers clients for courses. Duties also include processing refunds, running cash balance reports, depositing revenue, inventorying equipment, handling laundry services, and managing lost and found items.
The role requires problem‑solving, conflict resolution, and effective communication with members, unit areas, and the public. The incumbent supports the Athletics and Recreation Dept.’s Safe Sport, Indigenization, Equity, Diversity, Inclusion, and community‑building initiatives.
Requirements- Two‑year community college education combined with a minimum of 6 months experience in customer service and supervising part‑time staff.
- Experience in cash handling and client service administration (or equivalent).
- Strong verbal communication skills.
- Customer service abilities and ability to work in a dynamic team environment.
- Excellent leadership skills and ability to train and monitor a transient workforce.
- Effective problem solving and conflict resolution combined with demonstrated initiative.
- Strong computer skills and familiarity with Active Net Registration Software and Microsoft Office applications.
Sunday to Thursday, starting 8 hours before building close time until close (typically 4:30 pm to 12:30 am).
