Position Description

The University of Guelph, Ridgetown Campus invites applications for a fixed term part-time College Lecturer, teaching in the Agriculture Associate Diploma Program. This position is covered by the University of Guelph Faculty Association (UGFA) Unit
2. This appointment will begin in early January 2026 and will end in April 2026. The position is based at the Ridgetown Campus, in the municipality of Chatham-Kent, 200km southwest of the University’s main campus in Guelph.

Position Requirements
  • An undergraduate degree in a related field (animal biology, animal science, bio-resource management, agriculture, etc.) with three years of relevant working experience. Candidates with an equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
  • Effective communication skills and the ability to develop presentations for diploma students.
  • Ability to incorporate relevant, practical and applied experiences into teaching methods.
  • Advanced proficiency with MS Office and internet applications.
  • Demonstrated record of diplomacy, teamwork, and time management.
  • Practical experience in the livestock sector of the agriculture industry.
Preference Given to Candidates With
  • Experience teaching at the post-secondary level with a commitment to student success.
  • A related professional designation or industry recognized certification.

Reporting to the Associate Director of Academic Quality and Student Success, the College Lecturer will be responsible for teaching and delivering the course material, as well as the necessary preparation and grading of course materials and assessments. The College Lecturer will also provide student support in a timely fashion, answering student questions and inquiries regarding the course.

Assigned Course

This course expands on ruminant nutrition principles. Students will learn to develop practical and economical rations and feeding programs for ruminant livestock with emphasis on dairy cattle.

There are two (2) lecture hours and three (3) lab hours per week. There is one (1) lab section. The course is scheduled as follows:

Wednesday: 8am-9am (lecture)

Friday: 1pm-4pm (lab)
