The Kindergarten Assistant Teacher (afternoons) at Trillium Waldorf School holds the afternoon and After School Care program for kindergarten aged children. This position is a contract hourly position that extends from August 24, 2026 – June 18, 2027, with the possibility of renewal.
AboutTrillium Waldorf School is in its 31 st year of operation and serves approximately 165 students from Kindergarten through Grade Eight on a 3-acre campus in Guelph, Ontario. Our program integrates academic, artistic, and outdoor education, supported by an experienced Faculty and strong mentoring culture.
- Support the afternoon kindergarten program
- Collaborate with the lead KG teacher and class teachers
- Attend weekly meetings
- Fulfill assigned supervisory duties
- Participation in regular parent evenings and festival work as needed.
- Respond in an age appropriate manner when addressing the needs of the young child.
- Work independently when the need arises and assume responsibility for the whole group and/or individual children, in keeping with the established classroom milieu.
- Maintain an orderly and clean classroom, including kitchen and bathrooms as requested by Lead KG Teacher.
- Fulfill work requirements in accordance with the daily schedule, over which the Lead teacher has final decision.
- Run the After School Care program: completing attendance, communicating with parents and teachers, preparation and maintenance of classroom space, purchase supplies within an assigned budget and secure the building at the end of the day.
- Waldorf Teacher Education certification preferred. Willingness to work within Waldorf philosophy.
- Two years teaching experience, or equivalent combination of education and work experience, including experience working with young children.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills; approachable for students, parents and colleagues.
- Excellent conflict resolution skills.
- Proven ability to work within a community environment.
- Ability to create a warm and gentle environment for young children; kindness, warmth, patience, and energy.
- Willingness to grow and a deep interest in child development.
- Current Vulnerable Sector Check and CPR–First Aid certification
Hourly compensation ranges from $23.00 – $29.12 and is determined based on experience and placement within the school’s salary grid. Compensation and employment conditions are administered in accordance with applicable Ontario employment standards legislation.
