Location:
St. Joseph’s Health Centre, Guelph, ON (100 Westmount Rd, Guelph, ON N1H 5H8)
Salary: $43.58 – $64.22 per hour, based on qualifications.
Effective dates:
June 15, 2026 – September 30, 2026. Total hours: 112 hours; schedule to be determined.
Job Summary:
The incumbent will support the implementation of PSW clinical placements within long‑term care homes for the UGDSB Living Classroom program, arranging placements, facilitating learning experiences, and ensuring quality clinical instruction.
- Represent UGDSB at LTC placements, engaging with LTC staff and facilitating student learning of PSW skills.
- Organize and facilitate learning opportunities within the PSW scope, including the use of mechanical lifts.
- Hold and lead clinical post‑conferences to support student learning.
- Support LTC staff and students by responding to questions, concerns, and feedback regarding PSW students and the program.
- Review and provide feedback on students’ reflective notes.
- Conduct mid‑term meetings per student to review progress and SMART goals.
- Complete final evaluations for each student.
- Address student struggles promptly, document attendance, and support student success.
- Coordinate with the PSW instructor regarding students at risk of not progressing.
- Submit all completed clinical documentation to the PSW instructor at placement conclusion.
- Respond to workplace injury incidents per UGDSB policy and procedure.
- Triage instructor and student queries related to clinical placements, forwarding unresolved issues to the program instructor or principal.
- Assist with scheduling of clinical placement assignments, liaising with organizations and supporting orientation and onboarding processes.
- Perform related duties as assigned.
- Registered Nurse (RN) or Registered Practical Nurse (RPN).
- Minimum of two years of experience in a busy environment with diverse populations and unpredictable situations.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Brightspace LMS.
- Familiarity with SMART goal setting.
- High level of organization, time management, and prioritization skills.
- Ability to provide client‑service approach amid frequent interruptions and requests.
- Excellent oral and written English communication skills.
- Experience with problem‑solving, conflict resolution, and maintaining confidentiality.
- Effective interpersonal skills, ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- High accuracy and attention to detail in data collection and reporting.
- Demonstrated collaboration and interpersonal skills at a professional level.
- Commitment to diversity and equity principles.
- Experience working alongside Personal Support Workers considered an asset.
