Children’s Ministry Coordinator – Job Description

Approx. 5 hrs/wk. Honorarium of $600 per month
September through June, possibility of September through April if a UofG student

We are looking for a Children’s Ministry Coordinator to facilitate spiritual formation among children ages 1 to 13, across different aspects of our community’s life together, but with a primary focus on 4pm Sunday afternoon worship gatherings.

• Recruit, equip, and coordinate volunteers for 2RC’s one room, multi-age, Sunday afternoon kids program using an online scheduling system and digital Spark curriculum.
• Provide materials (craft supplies, clean and tidy setting, curriculum, etc.) needed for a successful Sunday kids program.
• Provide hands‑on leadership within the Sunday afternoon kids program at least twice monthly, alongside a roster of volunteers.
• Provide and arrange children’s ministry leadership at occasional one‑off events as discerned with the 2RC Leadership Team (ie. retreats, special events, etc.)
• Offer training in, and oversee compliance with, the Presbyterian Church in Canada’s “Leading With Care” policies, including Police Records Checks for volunteers.
• Build relationships with families, become familiar with participating children, and offer support and encouragement to both.
• Provide support to the volunteers who lead the monthly 2RC Family Living Room, and other children/youth programs of 2RC.
• Meet quarterly with the 2RC Families Brainstorm Team for feedback and visioning.
• Communicate news, opportunities, needs, etc. via the 2RC Families Group Chat, 2RC Social Media, and 2RC weekly emails.
• Meet monthly with the Lead Minister, who is responsible for supervision of this role, alongside the Human Resources Committee.
• Participate in 2RC Leadership Team meetings upon request (approximately twice yearly).
• Be committed to following in the way of Jesus, and in alignment with 2RC purpose, strategy, values, and practices.

• A background in children’s ministry, camping ministry, early childhood education, teaching etc. is helpful.
• Familiarity with spiritual formation, missional models of church, volunteer management, and the Guelph community are all assets.
• Creativity, flexibility, good communication, and collaboration are highly valued in this role.
