This position involves investigating the use of modern manufacturing and digital tools in the fine arts. The GSA will work closely with the IDL manager. Some of the technologies will include virtual reality, 3D printing, 3D scanning, and potentially using various software packages. Other tasks will possibly involve assisting in mold making, sculpting plasticine, painting, sanding/finishing objects, researching new technologies, and helping with assembling/manufacturing larger projects.

The tasks and projects will change during the semester. The GSA is expected to be available in person on campus multiple times per week. An enthusiasm to learn about new technologies and being comfortable figuring out new computer programs is an asset. Much of the work is hands on and being comfortable with using sculpting tools, mold making, and general knowledge about "making things" will be a good foundation for the work that will be done.
