JLP Services Inc. is currently seeking an "local" intermediate Geotechnical Engineer. JLP currently provides a range of Geotechnical Services, including but not limited to:
Investigation, Materials Testing and Inspection, Instrumentation and Monitoring, Shoring Excavation and Monitoring and Foundation Recommendations.
Please note that position requires a minimum of 7 to 10 years of local southwestern Ontario experience. This requirement is non‑negotiable.
Role Responsibilities:- Performing construction site reconnaissance, observations, and inspections (e.g., footing inspections, subgrade inspection, retaining wall inspection).
- Reviewing soil and rock samples in our laboratory, coordinating geotechnical laboratory testing, and compiling test results and borehole logs.
- Analyzing and modeling slope stability, settlement, foundation design, soil retaining structures, and other geotechnical challenges.
- Preparation of Geotechnical Investigation Reports, Technical Memos, Scope of Work
- Client Communication and business development.
- Training and mentorship of junior employees.
- P.Eng. designation
- CCIL Certifications
- Exceptional interpersonal, organizational and critical thinking skills
- Excellent oral and written communication skills, including technical writing ability.
- An understanding of materials testing and inspection, road reconstruction, rebar inspection and general construction practices.
- Proficiency in Auto Cad, gINT, Slide, Aqte Solv MS Office and AutoCAD (preferred).
- Bachelor’s Degree in Geotechnical (Civil or Geological) Engineering.
- Master’s Degree- asset
