Engineering Product Designer

Our client is a well-established company in the precast concrete industry. They are looking for an Engineering Product Designer to join their Guelph office on a permanent full time basis.

The Product Designer provides design and technical support for preparation of shop drawing packages for submission and fabrication as well as guidance to Operations for technical issues. They also maintain the technical information in accordance with internal design and drafting principles and practices.

Responsibilities:

Read and interpret contract drawings

Review technical details

Prepare and review shop drawings shop drawings

Maintain registry documents

Engineering record keeping

Design using CSA and OPS Standards

Design and stamp underground precast concrete structures

Manage projects, handle clients and coordinate with production to meet customer deadlines

Implement standard practices for the operations team to maintain a high level of technical standards

Qualifications:

Civil Engineering Degree

Professional Engineer (P.Eng) Designation and registered with PEO is preferred

4+ years’ experience in a similar or equivalent role

Demonstrated proficiency with reading and interpreting construction blueprints

Effective communication skills (verbal and written)

Efficient in STAADPRO

Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office Outlook, Word, Excel, STAAD Pro or Other, Concise Beam, Databases

Strong personal organizational skills, accuracy and attention to detail

Project Management and Scheduling experience is required

Solid Works skill preferable
