PHARMACY TECHNICIAN
(TEMPORARY FULL TIME CROSS-SITE)
A temporary full time cross-site Pharmacy Technician position is available in the Pharmacy Department at North Wellington Health Care (Louise Marshall Hospital & Palmerston and District Hospital). The home site for this position will be the Louise Marshall Hospital site.
Summary:
Reporting to the Manager, Pharmacy, the Pharmacy Technician will be responsible for technical and clinical support activities according to departmental & hospital policies, provincial guidelines and Canadian Society of Hospital Pharmacists Standards of Practice, including:
Preparation and distribution of medications, including sterile admixtures (incl. chemotherapy, TPN and patient controlled analgesia)Using computer technology to perform daily operations including order entry, medication reconciliation, document generation and departmental inventory control processesDelivery and maintenance of medications in clinical areasCompletion of audits, medication safety initiatives, and projectsQualifications:
Graduate of a CCAPP (Canadian Council for Accreditation of Pharmacy Programs) Accredited Pharmacy Technician Education Program requiredRegistration with the Ontario College of Pharmacists (OCP) as a Registered Pharmacy Technician (RPhT)Chemotherapy certification preferredKnowledge of inpatient pharmacy dispensing processesKnowledge, skill & competence in preparation of sterile productsComputer skills related to Microsoft Office including Word, Excel and Power PointExperience with Meditech pharmacy software preferredExperience in hospital pharmacySuperior interpersonal, written and verbal communication, teamwork, problem-solving and organizational skillsCommitment to lifelong learning and professional developmentHistory of dependability (including good attendance record)Adaptability & ability to prioritize, attention to detailDemonstrated accuracy and attention to detailAdditional Qualifications:
Satisfactory performance and attendance requiredSatisfactory Reference Checks required prior to start dateMust provide a Police Vulnerable Sector CheckMust complete a Pre-Employment Health Assessment prior to being hiredHours of work:
