Location: 115 Delhi St., Guelph, ON

Position Summary:

The Echocardiology Technologist is a specially trained healthcare professional that works under general supervision and performs diagnostic imaging examinations utilizing sonography techniques specialized for imaging of the heart and heart vessels. The sonographer uses their expert knowledge of imaging and/or equipment, together with an extensive understanding of the principles of anatomy, physiology and pathology, image acquisition, to deliver quality care to their patients.

The sonographer ensures the care provided is safe, appropriate, tailored, timely, and maximizes the potential of the available equipment and resources.

Qualifications, Experience,

Skills and Abilities:

  • Member in good standing with CMRITO
  • Graduate of a recognized echocardiography program
  • Experience with contrast Echo is an asset
  • Demonstrated working knowledge of the Standards of Practice for Echocardiology and the Health Professionals Act
  • Proven knowledge of Echocardiology
  • Must act as a positive advocate for the professional body of Echocardiology and the Diagnostic Imaging Department
  • Demonstrated commitment to best practice, standards of practice, and life‑long learning
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Demonstrated critical thinking, problem solving, decision making and conflict management
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • Intermediate computer skills with experience using Microsoft Word/Excel/Power Point
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team in a fast‑paced and ever‑changing environment
  • Demonstrated commitment to excellent customer service when interacting with patients, families, colleagues and physicians
