The Opportunity:

We are recruiting for a MENTAL HEALTH CLINICIAN (Children’s Services)

  • This is a regular full-time role to fill an existing vacancy (35 hours per week Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm with evening hours as needed) based at 737 Woolwich St. Guelph.

Reporting to the Manager, Children’s Services, the successful candidate will be committed to assisting parents, children, and youth to establish healthy relationships. This will include providing comprehensive assessments, clinical services, and consultation to community partners and group support. The successful candidate will provide recovery oriented counseling and support to children, youth, and their families with mental health and/or addiction challenges.

Responsibilities:

  • Infant, child and family mental health assessments, consultation and intervention services for the 0 to 10 population
  • Education, counselling, coaching, support and therapeutic interventions (individual, family and group)
  • Direct consultation and collaborative work with health care providers, social service agencies and families to enhance their ability to provide treatment and/or support
  • Educate service providers and the broader community regarding infant and child mental health issues
  • Initiate referrals to internal and external treatment and support options
  • Involve clients and families in evaluating the effectiveness of assessment/consultation

Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in psychology, social work, early childhood education or relevant health or social science field
  • Registration with relevant college/registering body
  • Certification in Infant Mental Health is an asset
  • Certification Circle of Security is an asset
  • A sound understanding and demonstrated knowledge of infant mental health, adult mental health and infant/child development
  • Three or more years of related experience in providing infant and children’s based mental health services with in-depth knowledge of complex clinical issues
